Trillium Book Awards Author Reading 2015

Orally Gifted & The Painted Lady...

Share |

Last night's reading at The Painted Lady turned out to be a real success. The place was crowded and the audience seemed to have a great time. Thanks to my fellow authors, Heather J. Wood and Myna Wallin. In an impromptu piece of fancy footwork, Heather, her boyfriend Kurt and Tightrope Books publisher Halli Villegas read from Myna's new novel, Confessions of a Reluctant Cougar since Myna has laryngitis and could barely speak at a whisper. The three of them reading from Confessions gave the work a nice, theatrical quality.
Heather J. Wood read some earlier work, then passages from her 2009 Tightrope Books novel, Fortune Cookie, along with a section from her forthcoming Tightrope novel, Roll With It.
I closed things out with a few passages from my novel, Mount Royal, coming soon, also from Tightrope Books. My all-purpose Eastern European accent used for the character Savva Grudtsyn was a bit ridiculous but those on hand seemed to get a few laughs out of it.
So big thanks to all of you who came out on a cold Monday night and kudos to everyone at Tightrope Books for making it such a memorable evening.
Another reading is tentatively planned, also at The Painted Lady, for sometime in mid to late summer. Hope to see you there!
