Confessions of a Reluctant Cougar

Tightrope Books, 2010

Yes, it’s a bit nepotistic to list my fellow Tightrope author but in the case of Confessions, it’s genuine. Some people who’ve read it told me they were a bit wary of the title at first, thinking it might be some supermarket line-up quickie but within the various experiences of the protagonist, Olivia, there is an underlying humanity and sense of doubt that gives the writing a real and human depth, and often hilarious. Myna also has a nice, subtle touch, not forcing Olivia’s central relationship to develop from the first exciting throes to eventual decline; the realization this person you’ve surrounded with fancified imagery is all too human and has many traits you find annoying and fairly disappointing. And no, Confessions is not “chick lit”, so you men out there are allowed to read it as well. Besides, most guys will learn a thing or two. I sure did.
