In 2005, recent graduates Alexander Herman, Paul Matthews and Andrew Feindel realized they weren't entirely sure where they were going in life. Then they had an idea. Over the next two years, they interviewed 70 well-known Canadians and asked them how they got started. The answers they found were not always what they expected.

Kickstart profiles over 30 prominent Canadians, including professional athletes (former CFL star Norman Kwong), TV personalities (Valerie Pringle), Native leaders (Matthew Coon Come) and former prime ministers (Brian Mulroney). Their collective wisdom, offered in their own words, just might help readers "kickstart" their own lives and careers.

The launch for Kickstart was on Wednesday, April 2 at Casa Loma. Almost 500 people attended the launch and the books were sold out. You can read about the launch by becoming a fan of Kickstart on Facebook and by reading a feature about Alex, Paul and Andrew in Inside Entertainment.

Check out the Kickstart website to find out about the Canadians profiled in the book. The authors' blog will keep you up-to-date on the book tour and other events. Make to read about their remarkable Kickstart Project. You’ll soon be able to read more about Alex, Paul and Andrew on Open Book. We’re thrilled that they are going to be our Writers in Residence for May.
