This gentle, moving story is set in the 1940s in a prairie town and revolves around the friendship between Luke Haliwell and his new neighbour Gracie Moor. On her website, author Valerie Sherrard describes her book this way: “Gracie is unlike anyone Luke has ever known, but when the town discovers that Gracie's mother is hiding a shameful secret, Luke learns that friendship can come at a great cost.”
