Operation Rimbaud

Cormorant Books, 2008

Operation Rimbaud is a modern quest that takes into account the death of God and other existential questions of the mid-Twentieth century. An elegant slightly extended novella, Operation Rimbaud is about the futility of prayer and poetry in a world governed by ambition. The narrator, a disillusioned Jesuit sent to Ethiopia to kidnap the laws of Moses, recovers his innocence as he loses his faith. His crisis of faith is no less exciting than the renaissance narrative starring priests who love danger and fine living.
