Trillium Book Awards Author Reading 2015

Corey Redekop, Moving Stories Film Festival, and Events

Share |

Dear Readers,

2008 is underway, and Open Book: Toronto has many new features on the horizon. In the next few months, we'll introduce new contests, readers' polls, videos, podcasts, and - in a new section - in-depth coverage of the Toronto literary scene. Starting in February, we will publish the Open Book Magazine every three months, featuring excerpts, articles, and interviews. We'll keep you posted on our updates with our biweekly e-news and on our Facebook page.

Open Book's January Writer in Residence, Corey Redekop, is reading at Type Books in Toronto on January 24 and at Curiosity House Books in Creemore on January 26. We suggest prepping for the events by reading Corey's brilliant blog. Go to the readings knowing about his shrine to the god of luck, his parachuting experience, and his new tattoo. Corey is compiling a list of movies that "present a facet of the writer's craft." If you have a title for the list, or any other comments or questions for Corey, please send them to writer@openbooktoronto.com.

While you're coming up with suggestions for Corey Redekop's literary film list, why not think of what book, story, or poem makes you want to pick up a camera and make a short film? BookShorts' Moving Stories Film Festival debuts this spring, and they're calling on artists and filmmakers to submit films that are "directly inspired by fiction, non-fiction or poetry in the form of a published short story, novella, poem, graphic novel or full length book." Click here for more details.
