Dear Reader,

Happy New Year! We hope you had a fun and relaxing holiday season with family and friends, and that you had many opportunities to curl up with a good book.

Corey Redekop is Open Book: Toronto's January Writer in Residence. Corey is the author of the critically acclaimed novel Shelf Monkey (ECW Press, 2007). Check out his WIR page to read his Q & A with Open Book, to look at his lists of recommended books and websites, and to read his blog. The pages for our past Writers in Residence, Anne Hines, Lynn Coady, Zoe Whittall, and Todd Babiak are archived on Open Book, and you can access them from our home page.

Thanks to all the Open Book readers who submitted a title to the Overlooked Book contest. Congratulations to Gillian Moody, the winner of the draw for the gift certificate to Pages Books & Magazines. From your entries, we've compiled an Overlooked Booklist of Canadian fiction and non-fiction that ranges widely in date and subject. Check the list for suggestions for your 2008 reading, and stay tuned for our next contest.
