Torontonian and former Beijing resident Jonathan Campbell talks about his new book Red Rock: The Long, Strange March of Chinese Rock & Roll and will share sights, sounds and his own experiences in the scene as musician, promoter, manager and observer.

While the West's history with rock'n'roll goes back 60 years, the Chinese have only had half that time, but they have come up with a version of their own: Yaogun. The emergence and development of Chinese rock over the course of some of the most "interesting" times in China's recent history echoes the struggles of the nation as it discovered and slowly joined the rest of the world.
