DETAILS:

Some people argue passionately that the gates to Canadian publishing should be thrown open to foreign investment, while others, with equal vigour, sound the alarm bell that this will lead to the end of a sovereign print culture. This debate is now more than theoretical as the Department of Canadian Heritage has begun a review of the Revised Foreign Investment Policy as it affects the book publishing industry.

* Is the Revised Foreign Investment Policy in Book Publishing and Distribution leading the industry in the right direction?
* Should it be kept as is, modernized or abandoned?
* Is it doing enough to protect Canadian culture?
* What ideas do you have about our cultural borders – are they a barrier or a bounty?

Please join the Book and Periodical Council and an excellent slate of speakers to exchange your ideas on a subject of vital importance to all Canadians.

TIME: 5:30- 7:30 p.m. Doors Open at 5:00 p.m.
