Details

Don't miss spoken word/dub poetry legend Lillian Allen headlining the third installment of Soulstice Music & Poetry with acclaimed reggae band Jahbudah and 2012 national poetry slam champion Ritallin.

Allen, who recently toured overseas with her new CD, Anxiety, is back home and looking to create a memorable soundscape onstage in live collaboration with Jahbudah. The reggae band has recently released an album of its own, My Philosophy, to which Allen also lends her considerable talents. Ritallin, who fronted the urban/world band Instant Release when he lived in Ottawa, will also join these long-time collaborators for a high-energy exploration of word, sound, music and the power they exert when combined skilfully together.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door.

Soulstice Music & Poetry is a quarterly event held in September, December, March and June — the change of seasons. The series, produced by Cytopoetics, features performances by poets who interact and collaborate live onstage with talented musicians and vocalists.
