Born in a village in Ethiopia in 1973, Zaoda Tapsai now Rabbi Sharon Shalom, traveled without his parents to Israel through Operation Moses and was transformed when he met an Israeli Commando who rescued him. Educated at Bar Ilan University and ordained ten years ago, he first served a small Ashkenazi community of Holocaust survivors.

Hear about his entry to Israel, reuniting with family, his studies and integration into Israeli society and many facets of his work, including his latest project: a complete rewrite of the 16th century Code of Jewish Law to recognize the customs and interpretations of Jewish Law by the Ethiopian Jewish community. He teaches at Bar Ilan University.

Doors open at 7:00p.m.; Lecture begins 7:30p.m.
