Come and hear three accomplished and stylistically diverse poets at the August livewords on Thursday the 26th at the Black Swan – 154 Danforth Avenue – 2nd Floor. Doors 7:30 pm. Readings from 8:00 pm. And don't miss the poetry open mic !

BIOS:

Adebe D. A. is a writer whose words travel between Toronto and New York City. Her work has been published in various North American sources, and she won the Toronto Poetry Competition in 2005 to become Toronto’s first Junior Poet Laureate. Her debut poetry collection, Ex Nihilo, was published this year by Frontenac House, one of ten manuscripts chosen in honour of Frontenac House’s Dektet 2010 competition. Ex Nihilo is currently on the longlist for the Dylan Thomas Prize, the world’s largest prize for writers under 30.

Jeff Latosik is the author of Tiny, Frantic, Stronger(2010). He lives in Toronto.

Alexandra Oliver was born in Vancouver, B.C. She attended the University of Toronto and received an M.A. in Drama in 1994. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and publications worldwide. Her first book, Where the English Housewife Shines (Tin Press, London, UK) was released in May, 2007. A second manuscript, The Hand of Scheveningen, was shortlisted for the 2009 CBC Literary Awards. She has performed her work at venues as diverse as Lollapalooza, The Festival of Original Theatre, The Word On the Street Festival and The National Poetry Slam as well as for CBC Radio One and National Public Radio in the U.S. She was also a featured performer and interviewee in Paul Devlin’s 1998 documentary Slam Nation.
