Now Hear This presents the launch of Barracuda

Young adults have strong voices; are you listening?

NOW HEAR THIS!, Toronto’s arts-based literacy organization, excitedly announces the upcoming launch celebrating the publication of The Barracuda – their second anthology of writing by student participants in the S.W.A.T. (Students, Writers and Teachers) Creative Residencies Program. NOW HEAR THIS! believes in the importance of exposing students to the joy of seeing their words in print, an achievement we know can increase a young person’s confidence in his or her own voice.

The Barracuda feature work by nearly 60 talented students from all across the city of Toronto. The anthology contains a rich variety of student-written poetry, short stories, dialogues and personal essays as well as statements from writers-in-residence based on their experiences working with these gifted young authors.

The student writing in The Barracuda is witty clever, moving and intelligent. It is writing that bravely stands up and confronts the issues that students everywhere are undoubtedly thinking about and, most importantly, living with every day.

The free-to-attend launch of The Barracuda will be a celebration of fantastic student writers, and a toast to the continued success of NOW HEAR THIS!’s S.W.A.T. program. All are welcome, so please come out for a night of food, friends, and readings by some talented contributors!
