Linda Holeman reads from her new book Saffron Gate, in which a young American woman’s search for her missing lover becomes an enthralling journey of mystery and self-discovery set against the spellbinding backdrop of 1930s Marrakech.

Novelist and short story writer Linda Holeman spent her childhood in Winnipeg’s North End, and many of her memories of that time and place influence her writing today. She holds a BA from the University of Winnipeg, and an M.Ed in Educational Psychology from the University of Manitoba. She writes fiction for both adults and young adults, and describes herself as “infinitely curious about people and the endless permutations of human relationships.”

Katherine Govier is an acclaimed novelist, short-story writer and journalist, born and raised in Alberta and currently living in Toronto. She is the author of eight novels and three short story collections, and is the editor of two collections of travel essays. She is the winner of the Marian Engel Award, for a woman writer in mid-career. Her books include Fable of Brunswick Ave, Angel Walk and Three Views of Crystal Water. Her latest anthology is Solo: Writers on Pilgrimage.
