Small Print, KidsCan Press, Spacing Magazine and Thetre District present, "Doing it in Public: A Celebration of Watch This Space by Hadley Dyer & Marc Ngui".

Do you want to do it in public? How about leaving your mark where everyone will see it? And want to have City Hall listen to your concerns? To launch Watch This Space: Designing, Defending, and Sharing Public Spaces (Kids Can Press) by Hadley Dyer and Marc Ngui, Small Print is having a street art chalk drawing contest for the 8-to-14 set. Matt Blackett, Editor of Spacing Magazine, will then host a lively town hall-style discussion with Dyer, Ngui, City Trustee Josh Matlow, City Councilor Joe Minec and other local movers and shakers.

WATCH THIS SPACE: This unique and timely book introduces youth to what public space is, why it is important and how best to use it. It also underscores the need to create, preserve and protect public space. Readers will learn what makes successful public spaces work, the ins and outs of sharing and designing them, the issues surrounding teenagers in public spaces and much more. Watch This Space answers the question, Why is public space important? It’s important because this space belongs to all of us.
