Photos! Kids Can Press Celebrates 40 Years

On May 16th, Kids Can Press (KCP) celebrated 40 years of publishing. The festivities took place during the Ontario Library Association's Forest of Reading® Festival of Trees™ at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. Thousands of children and their teachers were treated to a reading by Tree Award–winning author Helaine Becker, a Happy Birthday countdown with the cast of YTV's Zoink'd! and appearances by Scaredy Squirrel and Franklin the Turtle KCP, which began as a small publishing collective of OCAD students in 1973, has grown to become the biggest Canadian-owned children’s publisher in the world. It is home to major children’s brands Franklin the Turtle and Scaredy Squirrel, as well as numerous international award-winning books for toddlers to tweens.
