Canada's leading literary charity, The Writers' Trust of Canada, rallied writers, literary agents, publishing professionals, philanthropists, journalists and good old-fashioned book lovers to their exciting awards event on Tuesday, November 4 in Toronto. Check out these photos to see some of the literati who braved the bad weather to celebrate excellence in Canadian writing.

A total of six prizes were presented:

  • Ken Babstock won the $25,0000 Latner Writers’ Trust Poetry Prize
  • Miriam Toews won the $25,000 Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize for All My Puny Sorrows
  • Joan Thomas won $25,000 Writers’ Trust Engel/Findley Award
  • Susan Musgrave won the $20,000 Matt Cohen Award: In Celebration of a Writing Life
  • Cary Fagan won the $20,000 Vicky Metcalf Award for Literature for Young People
  • Tyler Keevil won the $10,000 Writers’ Trust/McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize

    Shortlisted authors for the Journey Prize and Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize also received honorariums to celebrate their achievements. The event was hosted by the arts editor of The Globe and Mail, Jared Bland.
