Dear Readers,

Open Book: Toronto is pleased to announce that award-winning author Kathy Kacer is our December Writer in Residence. Kathy is a children's author whose focus is historical fiction and non-fiction about the Holocaust. Her most recent book is The Diary of Laura's Twin (Second Story Press). Visit Kathy's page to read her blog and her Ten Questions with Open Book and to check out her reading and website recommendations. You can post your questions and comments for Kathy onto the website or send an email to writer@openbooktoronto.com.

We've posted two new videos by Ian Daffern on Open Book. In the Toronto Talks section of the Around Town page, you'll find a video of painter Jinny Yu and Eleanor Johnston of David Mirvish Books playing word association with Ian. Check out the shots of Jinny's striking paintings. Jinny's first catalogue, Jinny Yu, was published this fall by University of Ottawa Press in conjunction with her gallery. Ian also headed to Get Lit for Open Book on November 19 to film readers and party-goers. Get Lit was held at the Gladstone Hotel and featured readings by David Miller, Vincent Lam, George Stroumboulopoulos, Amy Verner, Carol Huynh, Elvira Kurt and Ken Setterington.

The latest event photos on Open Book are from the launch for Belonging and Banishment (TSAR Publications), edited by Natasha Bakht, and from TSAR's Fall Launch at the Gladstone Hotel. Photographer Lisa Myers covered the TSAR launch. Check the website in a week for photos from the TINARS for Tots Extravagant Holiday Bonanza.

Our latest Toronto Profile is of the Rowers Pub Reading Series. You can find it, along with past profiles, book lists, event photos and videos, on the Around Town page. Also new on the site is an Annick Podcast with Lawrie Raskin, author of 52 Days by Camel, and Ten Questions interviews with Irene N. Watts (Good-Bye Marianne, Tundra Books) and Jack Mitchell (Ancient Ocean Blues, Tundra Books).
