Canada Also Reads is the National Post’s counterpoint to the Canada Reads campaign, offering Canadians the chance to voice what they’re reading right now.
The reasoning behind Canada Also Reads is that CBC Radio’s Canada Reads contest features books that many Canadian have already read and there are many other books Canadians should read.
“While The Afterword is a fan of what Canada Reads has done to promote CanLit, we figured this would be a great opportunity to help shine a light on some of the books sitting in the shadows. What books should Canada also read, we asked?”
They have just released the longlist of books for Canada Also Reads, available here.
Their panel of experts, which includes authors, poets, songwriters and even a blogger, will be announcing the shortlist for Canada Also Reads beginning March 1st and on March 8th will hold a live chat with the panelists and the authors and enjoy a rousing discussion of the titles.
