Finalists for 2008 City of Toronto Book Award Announced

The five finalists for the 2008 City of Toronto Book Award were announced today at a press conference at the Toronto Reference Library. The award honours "authors of books of literary or artistic merit that are evocative of Toronto." The 2008 finalists are:

  • And Beauty Answers: The Life of Frances Loring and Florence Wyle (Cormorant Books) by Elspeth Cameron
  • Soucouyant (Arsenal Pulp Press) by David Chariandy
  • Loyalty Management (Wolsak and Wynn Publishers) by Glen Downie
  • Long Story Short (House of Anansi Press) by Elyse Friedman
  • Helpless (HarperCollins) by Barbara Gowdy
