Gaspereau and Douglas & McIntyre to Print Skibsrud's The Sentimentalists

When Johanna Skibsrud won the Scotiabank Giller Prize for her novel The Sentimentalists last week, controversy emerged over how her publisher, Gaspereau Press, would deal with the win. Gaspereau publishes beautiful books, but given the size of the press, they could not keep up with the great demand for Skibsrud's novel. The National Post's book blog, The Afterword, reported this morning that Gaspereau has teamed up with Douglas & McIntyre, and "30,000 copies of the book will be printed and shipped by November 19, and 'paper is on hand for an immediate reprint of 20,000 copies.'" Great news for the many readers keen to get their hands on a copy of The Sentimentalists. Gaspereau Press will continue to print their edition of the novel.
