The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid

From our friends at TIFF

You loved the book, don't miss the movie — and a chance to hear about how one becomes the other!

Now in its fourth season, Books on Film brings together book and film lovers to examine great cinema that began as outstanding literature. Host Eleanor Wachtel of CBC’s Writers & Company welcomes filmmakers, authors and experts to discuss the art of adaptation and the sometimes challenging passage from page to screen.

This year's season kicks off this Monday, March 3, 2014 with acclaimed author Mohsin Hamid speaking on Mira Nair's adaptation of his Book Prize-nominated novel, The Reluctant Fundamentalist.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist spent over two months on The New York Times best-seller list and was published in over 30 languages. Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, it was named by The Guardian as one of the books that defined the decade. The film adaptation stars Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schreiber and Kate Hudson.

Each event features a screening followed by a fascinating and lively discussion. Books on Film will run six events on select Mondays from March 3 to June 23.

Other upcoming Books on Film events include CanLit icon Yann Martel on Life of Pi and Andre Dubus III on House of Sand and Fog.
