Fresh & Local: Your connection to Toronto's vibrant literary scene

Dear Readers,

Unpack your sweaters and dust off your publishing-party shoes. Fall book season is here. Open Book: Toronto will help you navigate your way to must-read book news, to must-read books and to the scads of fabulous literary events going on all over the city.

Books on the Radio, Open Book and Type Books have joined forces to present a night of short fiction by writers from Toronto and Vancouver. Join Dennis E. Bolen (Anticipated Results), Andrew J. Borkowski (Copernicus Avenue) and Carolyn Black (The Odious Child) on September 22nd to hear amazing readings and to celebrate YOSS (The Year of the Short Story). See Open Book's Events Page for details.

Every September, book lovers flock to Queen's Park to enjoy the biggest book and magazine fair in Canada. The Word On The Street has been going strong since 1990, featuring books, magazines, Canadian writers, children's books and activities, small press displays and more. When you're at The Word On The Street on September 25th, be sure to visit the Vibrant Voices of Ontario tent, a brand-new element at WOTS, which is supported by the OMDC (Ontario Media Development Corporation), and which features some of the best fiction, poetry and non-fiction being produced by writers and publishers in our fine province. In the weeks leading up to the event, get to know some of the talented writers reading at the Vibrant Voices Tent with Open Book's The Word On The Street Interview Series.

Contest! Enter for a chance to win a Remarkable Reads prize pack donated by The Word On The Street! The prize pack includes ten books by featured authors at the Remarkable Reads WOTS tent. Click here for full contest details.
