In 2011, high school students from Malvern Collegiate Institute's Writer’s Craft class interviewed Canadian poets as part of a class project. We featured the interviews on Open Book. The students studied Canadian poetry under the collaborative tutelage of teacher John Ouzas and poet a rawlings. This year, a rawlings returned to the school and once again, students from Mr. Ouzas’s Writer’s Craft class interviewed some of Canada’s finest poets. Throughout June, we'll be sharing those fantastic interviews with you on The Great Canadian Writer's Craft blog on Open Book: Toronto.

Read interviews with Nikki Reimer, Sonnet L’Abbé and Steve Venright. Check back for interviews with a rawlings, Adam Dickinson, Angela Szczepaniak, Beatriz Hausner, Garry Thomas Morse, Jason Christie, Jenny Sampirisi, Jordan Scott and Mark Truscott.

"It's finally June, which means summer is almost here! In anticipation of the warmer weather, perfect for relaxing and reading, I've asked three book lovers — from the West, Phyllis Simon; from the East, Lisa Doucet; from in between, Melissa Montovani — to suggest their top summer picks of Canadian kids' books. Some are new, some aren't so new — all are ideal for cracking open when the hot weather hits." Read Susan Hughes' lastest column, "Kid Lit Can: Some Sizzling Summer Reading 'Kids' Can Lit' Picks."

Our latest interviews are with Dundurn publicist James Hatch; Peter Unwin, author of the short fiction collection Life Without Death (Cormorant Books); illustrator Dean Griffiths (Hoogie in the Middle, Pajama Press); artist and author Frank Viva (A Long Way Away, HarperCollins Canada); and Alan Silberberg, author and illustrator of The Awesome, Almost 100% True Adventures of Matt & Craz (Simon & Schuster Canada).

The May 2013 Top Ten lists are in! See which Canadian books were the top sellers last month at five of Ontario's finest bookstores: Bakka Phoenix, Ben McNally Books, Bryan Prince Bookseller, Northern Women's Bookstore and Type Books (the Queen Street store).
