What’s It About in a Nutshell:
After a clerical error, a 13 year old girl gains a chance to go aboard the space shuttle. The space agency tries to make the pre-flight training ridiculously hard that she'll give up and they won't have to put a child into a dangerous situation. Ha! Good luck, space agency!
What first inspired you to create comics or graphic novels?
When I realized that (as a trained illustrator) I was more interested in telling stories and jokes than just making pretty pictures.
What for you makes a comic or graphic novel AWESOME!?
When the cartoonist working on the book is so excited that the energy of the story is palpable on the page. Also: monsters!
What subjects are you obsessed with?
Barbarians, princesses, treasure hordes, unicorns, octocorns, reverse mermaids and the human condition.
If you weren’t doing comics or graphic novels, what would you be doing?
Kissing things and animals hoping that they'd turn back into a princess or awesome witch or something.
What is your favourite Canadian graphic novel, or What’s your favourite graphic novel of all time?
Of all time: the Dungeon series by Sfar and Trondheim. By a Canuck it's the obvious choice: Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim
What are you working on now?
My webcomic, The Princess Planet, and a retosexual, blaxploitation graphic novel with hardcore parkour called Smooth 'N' Natural.
