Buddy Bolden was a prominent New Orleans band leader circa 1900. He played cornet and was influential in the early development of improvisational jazz. Stefan Berg has produced a wordless graphic novel depicting the final parade in which Buddy Bolden performed, in 1906. The book is centered on how Buddy burst a blood vessel during the parade; shortly after, he was institutionalized for the remainder of his life. Stefan launched his book on December 4, 2007, at David Mirvish Books in Toronto. The Happy Pals New Orleans Party orchestra provided live music to suit the occasion. The book is called Let That Bad Air Out - Buddy Bolden's Last Parade, and is published by The Porcupines's Quill press.
