Emma Donoghue is one of Canada's most acclaimed and prolific authors, having been praised around the world for her historical fiction, her short stories and of course, her novel Room, which was nominated for each of the Man Booker Prize, the Orange Prize, the Governor General's Literary Award and the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize, and which won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize.

Her latest offering is Frog Music (HarperCollins Canada). Set in San Francisco in 1876, Frog Music is the story of Blanche Beunon, a burlesque dancer who tries to solve the murder of her friend Jenny amidst a heat wave and a smallpox outbreak. Based on real people and events, Frog Music is part love story, part rollicking tale of bloodshed.
