Both Arthur Manuel and Grand Chief Ron Derrickson have served as chiefs of their respective bands in the interior of British Columbia. Each has carved out a national reputation for his achievements: Manuel for his tireless activism for Aboriginal rights in Canada and Derrickson for his business acumen, founding RMD Group and brokering deals between Aboriginal groups and energy companies worth billions.

The two men come together in Unsettling Canada (Between the Lines Books) to address Canada's continuing shortcomings on both economic and social issues affecting Aboriginal peoples. The story of both men's achievements, against a tide of systemic racism, is a wake up call, and the book also includes proactive strategies and a plan for a sustainable, Indigenous economy.

"You can't really understand [the situation] by reading a newspaper article — you do need to go back in depth to really understand the extent of the struggle," says Manuel in a book trailer created by Between the Lines Books.

Check out the trailer for an introduction to Unsettling Canada, an important and fascinating book that addresses an issue that should be of concern to all Canadians.
